5 Ways To Promote Your Business When Your Friends & Family Don’t.
Updated: Apr 6
I wanted to write a post about how to support your business when your friends and family don’t. I have seen many social media posts where people encourage their families and friends to support them. The truth is that good friends and family should support your business, but it is not a requirement.
We live in an individualistic society that encourages us to make everything about serving who we are. So, I come to provide a different narrative for you today.
Sometimes, we do not make products and services that can benefit the people we know. In business, you have to learn to find your people. Your friends and family are here to be your emotional support system.
The value you provide in a business is for a specific group. Your target audience will be loyal to your brand, and customers will enjoy the value you can provide.
They will need the products and services you provide to solve their problems. For example, if you need to fix something, you go to the store and buy a hammer.
Who Should Support Your Business?
I learned one thing in life: Strangers are often more supportive than people you know. Sometimes, the people who are closest to you can never see your growth.
You may be knowledgeable about starting a business. But others will look at you like you are still an employee with a boss. Regardless of the situation, sometimes only you can see your future. Unfortunately, others around you may be blind to it.
Every business owner should know and learn marketing. You are promoting your business to ensure its success. Every significant Fortune 500 company uses these business strategies.
What is Marketing? Marketing is the process of promoting and attracting customers to your products. There are 7 P’s to Marketing: Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Packaging, and Process.
First, you want to determine your product and service. You want to make sure your effect is beneficial today. Your product should create a need in your industry.
When pricing your items, you want to position yourself carefully. Suppose your prices are too high. People won’t buy. If they are too affordable, customers may question the quality of the product. The prices set for your products should be evaluated over time.
Next, You want to pick a place where you will have the most exposure. The location can be online or at a local retail shop. Finally, you want to make sure you pick the most convenient place for customers to get to you quickly without hassle.
The next P is promotion. Promotion is about how you will tell others about your business. Will you use social media, Traditional media(news outlets, newspapers, billboards), or Networking methods such as event marketing?
People are an essential part of the business. You need people to sell to run a successful business. You also need people within the company to help you continue to scale your business.
Once you reach this level, the people on the inside are your employees. After that, leadership comes into play, and you have to be a leader of people to help the business and your employees thrive.
Next, we have packaging. You want to ensure that you use your brand fonts, prints, and colors. Your packaging will differentiate you from other brands and should match the overall theme of the brand.
Having good product packaging shows value. The packaging is usually well-made when you purchase the hottest new technology. I keep my Apple product packages for this reason.
The Last P of Marketing is Processes. The process is about the company’s logistics. Who is your product supplier? What is needed to produce and ship the product?
If the service is a service, do you need a website or course to create or communicate it? Logistics also includes the production of the service product from beginning to end. Finally, logistics consists of having enough people on staff.
